Online Platforms Take To Gamification To Boost User Engagement

The Economic Times reported on how gamification has moved beyond video games to become a core engagement strategy in consumer tech, with platforms such as YouTube, Google Pay, Amazon, Zomato, CRED and LinkedIn all building game-like elements into their products to keep users engaged and drive growth.
Lumikai portfolio company Supernova, an AI tutor for every child, shows what this looks like in practice. By incorporating game-like elements, Supernova saw monthly assignment participation grow more than threefold, with children taking part in an average of 23 assignments a month, up from 7.
Lumikai calls this Systems of Play, one of the five layers of its interactive media thesis, in which immersive game mechanics disrupt traditional industries. In Supernova's case, those mechanics are reshaping learning pedagogy so that learning feels like play.
