With only 6 cinema screens per million people and limited public infrastructure, mobile gaming has become India’s most accessible form of entertainment- replacing family TV with personalized screens.
Mobile already reaches 830M Indians, and gaming will achieve that scale within 5 years.
Free-to-play gaming revenues already rivals the Indian box office. While cinema footfalls are declining, the number of gamers grew 20% year-on-year.
India’s free-to-play gaming industry is only 4 years old; comparing it with 30+ year-old markets like US, Japan, Korea is misleading. Growth trajectories should be seen relative to ecosystem maturity.
